Rwanda to share expertise on climate action at global agricultural summit
Through the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), Rwanda is set to share its expertise in combating and preventing climate change at a high-profile conference.
This event is organized in partnership with AGRA, the Rwandan Government, the Africa Food Systems Forum, and other institutions to raise awareness and encourage modern, technology-driven food systems across Africa and globally.
The conference, scheduled to take place in Rwanda from September 2-6, 2024, will host over 5,000 participants from around the world.
Dr. Olivier Kamana, the Permanent Secretary at MINAGRI, stated that Rwanda is ready to share its experiences on how the country has strengthened its agricultural sector and addressed the impacts of climate change.
Amath Pathé Sene, head of the Africa Food Systems Forum, emphasized that agriculture is the foundation of human survival, and without its modernization, Africa will continue to struggle with hunger. He believes that the conference will explore ways to bolster agriculture to ensure food security in Africa and globally.
The summit will also focus on how to revamp Africa’s agriculture through the integration of modern technology. This comes after climate change has increasingly led to droughts and floods affecting crop yields in many countries.
Youth will have the opportunity to showcase their innovative projects related to agriculture and technology. The forum will feature discussions on learning from exemplary agribusiness and investment projects aimed at accelerating food security in Africa, with special attention to the involvement of women and youth.
Dignitaries, including President Paul Kagame, are expected to attend this significant conference.
