Music Icon Davido and African Stars Shine at Trace Awards in Kigali
Musician David Adedeji Adeleke, known as Davido, was honored at the Trace Awards held in Kigali on the night of October 20, 2023. Davido is one of the artists who graced the Rwandan audience and international attendees at the Trace Awards and Festival, which is set to continue on this Saturday, October 21, 2023, in BK Arena.
Davido is one of the prominent artists who took part in the event, arriving in Kigali a few hours before the event. He performed alongside Chris Brown in their song “Sensational,” which was released not long ago, and also collaborated with Lojay.
The Trace Awards and Festival, which Davido attended, began on Friday, October 20, and will run until Sunday, October 22, 2023. The event is hosted by the Trace Group, a media company known for its various television channels across Africa, celebrating its 20th anniversary.
This event features around 50 artists who will perform at the BK Arena over the course of five hours. Notable artists, both local and international, are part of the lineup, including Rema, Diamond Platnumz, Musa Keys, Yemi Alade, D’banj, Pheelz, Juma Jux, and others.
These awards are significant for Africa as a whole and mark a milestone for the region, with the first installment taking place in Rwanda. Renowned artists from Rwanda, such as Bruce Melodie, Kenny Sol, Ariel Wayz, Bwiza, and Chriss Eazy, have also been recognized for their contributions to the music industry.
Bruce Melodie, who is making a name for himself in the East African music scene, is one of the artists recognized in this event. In this prestigious ceremony, many talented musicians from various African countries have been celebrated.
Nigeria, with artists like Davido, has been at the forefront of many music genres in West Africa and is well-represented in various categories. Artists like Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, WizKid, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Fireboy DML, and Rema have also been honored, reflecting the diverse and thriving music scene in the African music industry.
