MUHISIMBI’s Livestock Support Enriches Teen Mathers, Boosts Economic Growth

Teen Mathers, supported by the MUHISIMBI Voice in Youth of Conservation Organization, are receiving acclaim for their ongoing progress, attributed to the organization’s provision of skills and knowledge.

The spotlight was on them on May 9th, 2024, in Kinigi sector, when the organization, alongside sponsors like Ellen Hennecke, Bob, Aidan, and Logan, donated six cows to six Teen Mathers involved in KWIGIRA women Center.

Beneficiaries such as Rosine Uwimbabazi, Patience Ayingeneye, and DINA Iransubije express their intentions to enhance their wealth and invest in ways that benefit their community.

Rosine stated: “I value the continued support of the MUHISIMBI Voice in Youth of Conservation Organization, which empowers us. With various forms of support received, including assistance to escape poverty, the cows provided will further improve our lives. I firmly believe this initiative will lead to economic stability for me, my family, and my community.”

Echoing these sentiments, their friends, including DINA and Patience, noted that the organization’s leader, Emmanuel Harerimana, has led by example by providing livestock. They aim to support their community rather than selling the livestock for personal gain.

Many of the Teen Mathers, who are not yet 20 years old, report significant strides in building meaningful lives since receiving help, including pursuing studies in sewing and acquiring skills that enable critical thinking.

Emmanuel Harerimana, CEO of the MUHISIMBI Voice in Youth of Conservation Organization, thanked the sponsors for their wholehearted support in providing cows to these Teen Mathers. He believes this assistance will enable them to excel in their endeavors.

He said: “We have received unprecedented support, engaging various stakeholders, including Ellen Hennecke’s family, Bob, Aidan, and Logan. This has enabled us to establish an organization that assists Teen Mathers facing challenges like unexpected births. Today, we have decided to donate 6 cows to 6 families and 70 chickens to these women to combat malnutrition and poverty in their communities.”

He continued: “Recipients of these cows are asked to keep them for breeding purposes only, as agreed upon to help them achieve self-sufficiency.”

The MUHISIMBI Voice in Youth of Conservation Organization focuses on various conservation projects but places a strong emphasis on improving the living conditions of residents near Volcanoes National Park, particularly the Teen Mathers who receive cows for breeding.

This initiative is part of several similar efforts by the organization, including providing sewing machines to help these women in their daily lives.
