On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, a delegation of three senior military officers from Nigeria visited the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) in Nyakinama, Musanze District, as part of a three-day official visit to Rwanda.
The delegation included three high-ranking officers with the ranks of Major General, Brigadier General, and Lt.Colonel. They came from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre (MLAILPKC) in Nigeria.
During the visit, both parties discussed the operations of their respective institutions in peacekeeping efforts, aiming to strengthen collaboration and identify areas for improvement.
The Nigerian delegation was given an overview of the Rwanda Peace Academy’s activities and its organizational structure. They later toured the facility to gain a practical understanding of its operations.
Major General Ademola Taiwo Adedoja, who led the delegation, expressed satisfaction with the Rwanda Peace Academy’s work in peacekeeping training. He acknowledged that both institutions share many similarities.
“We visited the Rwanda Peace Academy to understand how it operates and to reinforce our collaboration in peacekeeping efforts. We were impressed by what we saw and how things are done here. Additionally, we realized that we have a lot in common,” he said.
The delegation was received by Colonel (Rtd) Jill Rutaremara, the Director of the Rwanda Peace Academy, who emphasized the mutual benefits of the visit.
“This delegation came to observe how we operate, learn from us, and explore areas where we can collaborate. We exchanged insights on our respective operations, and while each institution has its uniqueness, we share many commonalities,” he explained.
Before visiting the Rwanda Peace Academy, the delegation had also toured the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako, which provides peacekeeping training for military personnel preparing for peace missions.
